For Younger Seminarians
Cor Christi is a new program that fulfills the Vatican’s new requirement for a “propaedeutic phase” as men begin seminary. Its purpose is to form strong Catholic men in the heart of Christ, so that they have a solid foundation for their journey through seminary.

Emphasis on Human Formation
More than ever, bishops and vocation directors insist that their men be formed first as Catholic gentlemen—normal, relatable men who one day will function well in ordinary parishes. Typically, young men arrive for seminary formation good-hearted but rough-hewn, requiring a period of maturation. Our aim in Cor Christi is to be pastorally direct—gentle but firm—in addressing any human shortcomings. This will provide a renewed emphasis on self-knowledge, self discipline, and growth in virtue.

Continuing Discernment
Most men who begin formation have done a lot of Internet discernment, and even made a thorough application to the seminary, but now begins a new phase: asking within community whether they are called further into the priestly mission. Our presumption is that the men will not automatically progress to the next stage of formation. Rather, through deep introspection, formator oversight, and community living, they must demonstrate a high degree of confidence that the Lord is calling them to take the next step. The men who progress from Cor Christi to Bishop White Seminary are certain that God wants them to continue in formation.
